ZIMCET condemns the attack on MP Trudy
  Stevenson and any other violence in Zimbabwe
Establish peace committees at local level, comprising members fully representative of the community. These respectable members of the community will spearhead peace education and conflict management. Organise local communities of different persuasions to exchange opinions peacefully. Encourage local communities to develop a strong feeling of partnership in identifying and stressing common goals, rejection of violence and advocating for just and peaceful development. Use electronic media programmes and other promotional materials for awareness campaigns in the development of a culture peace. Provide where possible, skills and resources to vulnerable groups for economic empowerment calendar of events

 

The Zimbabwe Civic Education Trust (ZIMCET) learned with shock and dismay at the battering of Mrs. Trudy Stevenson and four other high-ranking officials from the MDC pro-senate faction. This becomes the third incident in less than a year in which the MDC pro-senate faction officials have been brutally attacked by unruly youths. Mr. David Coltart alleged that Peter Guhu, MDC's director of security, was on the agenda of some youths to be attacked.
